RE: Use of harnesses in Germany

Jep, it is - but only if they are ECE-certified.

    FIA-certified are not legal.

Was um Himmels Willen sind harnesses? Hab in meinem Wörterbuch nachgeschaut und da steht was von Pferdegeschirr. Wollen die ein Pferd vor den MX5 spannen? Jep, Kannste da mal weiterhelfen oder willste uns dumm sterben lassen?

Harnesses sind wirklich vergleichbar einem Pferdegeschirr.

Es geht um Renngurte, 4-Punkt, 5-Punkt-, 6-Punkt Sicherheitsgurte - die erwachsene Variante der Tuning-Hosenträgergurte.

RE: Use of harnesses in Germany

    Hi,

    nice pic.

But, if you would accept some tips from someone who had already accidents in such type of harnesses - you should readjust your harness asap. This way you would cause some serious injuries from your harness.

It will slip up, and guess what the shoulderstrap-fasteners would do with your neck.

Loosen the shoulderstraps, tighten your waiststraps as much as possible. Then adjust the shoulderfasteners at the high of your nipples, or even some below (lower is better) - and after that you adjust the needed length at the wrap on the bar. No nice work of adjustment, but worth of it, for your health.

Your harnesses wouldn´t be allowed in a german car, as they have no EC - but i have no idea whats the fact in a foreign car that drives throug Germany,

EC-belts need the big red release-button - to enable every rescue-team to find it soon, without "what the hell, how can i release his belt to get him out?".

RE: Use of harnesses in Germany

I will allways accept tips, it is the best way to learn new things The harnesses in the picture is just loosely fitted so tha strap around the wais is not tighten enough. But it is a problem with 4-point harnesses that the waiststrap is to far up. So I want to buy the new Sparco seat that is made ready for 5- and 6-point harnesses and buy a 6-ponter from Sparco to cope with this problem.

What type of rollbar do you have? You have a horisontal bar that I do not have It looks perfect for fastening the sholderstraps to. And since I don´t have this horisontal bar I fastened the sholderstrap as shown in the picture. Don´t know what to do with this so if you have any sugestions I would apreciate it. What do youo think about drilling a hole in the rollbar for a 10mm bolt so I can fasten the harnesses that way?

    Use of harnesses in Germany

I hope this is the correct group.

Is it legal to use 4- or 6-point harnesses on normal road in Germany?

As you can see i use a 4-pointer (all others are not streetlegal here in Germany).

The main security will be provided by the waistbelt, he is the one who protects your body from going forward. The shoulderstraps are "only" needed to hold you upright in the seat.

So the proper fit of the waistbelt is the most important thing. After you did that, you fasten the shoulderstraps as tigh as possible, up to the point they tend to lift the waistbelt. Thats enough.

    >So I want to buy the new Sparco seat that is made ready

As mentioned above - not streetlegal here in Germany.

And as a former airborne i know very well how much it hurts when a belt doesn´t fits 100%, and hits your family juwels.

    >What type of rollbar do you have?

It´s a special construction i´ve ordered at a german company named "Wiechers" - a well known company for any kind of bars and cages.

    >You have a horisontal bar

It IS for fastening the shoulderstraps (or to redirect them) - according to FIA-Norm a 40mm bar has to be used.

Do you know somebody who would be able to weld a bar inbetween your doublehoops, properly?
